The 2 times I got ripped off on ebay

Being really stingy and having expensive taste do NOT go hand-in-hand.. so I'm always on the lookout for cheaper ways to get around paying those high prices on makeup, like a lot of  people, I took to ebay to get some good deals, don't get me wrong, I still love ebay and I have some stuff I'm pretty sure is genuine, but let me tell you bout the times I got ripped off !!

So The first time was MAC eye kohl in fascinating that I'd been lusting over for over a year.. but I couldn't really justify buying it because I probabbly would never wear it.. then I saw it for about 6 quid on ebay and the seller had great feedback and said specifically that it was "100% genuine" . when it arrived, it seemed pretty real to me, looked like all my other mac liners, coudn't find a fault  and swatched ok... but when I put it on my waterline, it wasn't that pigmented at all.... so I went to MAC and finally bought the real one ( after I wasted that 6 quid) and lo and behold it was WAY more creamy and pigmented than the ebay one.

Top: Fake ? Bottom: Real. The two pencils look exactly the same

Top: Fake ? Bottom: Real. The one from the MAC counter is alot creamier . Not sure
if the ebay on is fake or just defective/really old

Then that got me thinking about that bobbi brown gel liner that seemed so overrated that I got on ebay, it  was very pigmented and smooth but transferred really easily... I went out and tested the real deal and then got it, that didn't transfer and looked different. The ebay seller said it was Bobbi brown but didn't reassure you in the description that it wasn't fake. In hindsight looking at the bottle, some stuff was misspelled but the writing was so tiny you couldn't really be sure

I think Bobbi brown had different packaging for the gel liner and they copied that
Real ( left) and Fake ( right)

Real ( left) and Fake ( right)

Fake spelling mistakes

Swatched top: fake , bottom:real . They look pretty similar in real life too

After vigorous rubbing top:fake, bottom: real. The fake one also feels  tacky even after its dried and transfers easily

SO I've learned my lesson, no more buying makeup on ebay... because at the end of the day , I ended up spending money on the fake and finally caving and getting the real deal in the end. The Bobbi Brown was definitely fake, the seller didn't even dispute negative reviews that it was fake ... I'm still not sure if the MAC liner was fake or just a defective/old item from MAC. To be honest its not even worth it, if its fake you don't really know where its made and if they follow health and safety regulations.. you don't need to be putting this stuff on your beautiful face ! x
